Chiefs suddenly among busiest NFL teams during offseason
The Kansas City Chiefs were supposed to be quiet during free agency, given the perennial AFC West champions had most of their big names tied up in long-term contracts and they already were bumping up against the salary cap. Brett Veach had other ideas. The uber-aggressive Chiefs general manager instead made a splash by signing former Texans safety Justin Reid and former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, then turned the NFL on its head by swinging a blockbuster trade that sent three-time All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for a package of draft picks.
news.yahoo.com🔒 Ari Alexander talks one-on-one with Texans safety Justin Reid
Hello all - Ari Alexander here. One of the most open and accessible Texans players, Justin Reid stopped by the studio to chat with me about his desire to win the Walter Payton Man of the Year and why it’s so important for him to give back to the community.
Tom’s still too much for the Texans, but there were bright spots in the game
Hey guys, it’s Ari Alexander checking in from NRG Stadium where the Texans learned (again) what Tom Brady is all about. Houston showed some good things in the 23-16 loss. They also showed the defense has plenty of work to do against top level NFL offenses with Brady torching them.

NFL Week 11: Texans 27, Patriots 20 — Four Winners, Four Losers
Aside from 2014, the Texans have played the Patriots in every regular season since 2012, and twice in the postseason. Then, the Texans broke through and won last season, and we all thought maybe our little baby — the Texans — were all grown up. Well, on Sunday, Reid finally had a vintage Reid game, leading the team in tackles (9), and getting his first career sack. Anthony WeaverWhen you talk about so many beleaguered players on the Texans' defense, well, numerous flummoxed players equals one wildly frustrated and emotional defensive coordinator. Somewhere, the oft-criticized (and currently on the injured reserve list with a concussion) David Johnson was watching this game, and the Texans' run blocking, saying "See?...
houstonpress.comThe Latest: Home teams now 65-65-1 in this pandemic season
That means that going into tonight’s Saints-Buccaneers showdown, home teams are 65-65-1 so far this season. That homefield advantage has largely been erased with sparse crowds or no fans at games because of the coronavirus pandemic. Las Vegas though has taken control on its first two drives of the second half. Neither had started an NFL game, but both have been in the league much longer than DiNucci. The Tennessee Titans already lost left tackle Taylor Lewan for the season, and now they are without left guard Rodger Saffold.

Texans hoping to get win in their first week without Bill O’Brien
HOUSTON – The Texans are preparing for their first game since the end of the Bill O’Brien era. Houston is 0-4, but hoping for a fresh start and a win over a beatable division rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars. One way to do a better job of tackling is to have live tackling drills. Other than that, no, I think the tackling shouldn’t be too big of an issue more than it is any other year.”Does the team think the Texans can turn this around? I think that’s been good for our leaders on the team to step up and do that.

Houston Texans 2020 Offseason Position Preview: Safeties
So, without further ado, let's get to three burning questions about the Houston Texans' safety position group this 2020 offseason:Is Justin Reid ready to leap to the Pro Bowl? Reid making the leap to Pro Bowl level is almost a necessity for the Texans to accomplish their goals in 2020. Addae signed with the Texans well after the initial wave of free agency last season, on a near veteran minimum deal. The Texans need to find a veteran third safety. If not, there should be a long list of veteran safeties over the age of 30 who are looking for backup work on a good team.
houstonpress.comWill Fuller Undergoes Successful Sports Hernia Surgery
AS first reported by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Will Fuller underwent sports hernia surgery over the weekend:Texans wide receiver Will Fuller underwent sports hernia surgery to repair groin injuries sustained during regular season that he aggravated in playoff loss to Chiefs, according to sources. Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) January 25, 2020It wouldn't be a Texans offseason if Will Fuller wasn't getting some part of his anatomy surgically repaired. Texans with Fuller, Texans without FullerThe Texans are a clearly different team with Fuller than without Fuller in the lineup, having gone 8-3 with a healthy Fuller, and just 2-3 without Fuller. The effect of Fuller can be seen in two key stats from the regular season yards per attempt and third down conversions. For the majority of the season, when Fuller was hurt, it was a hamstring injury that was dogging him.
houstonpress.comJustin Reid Announces Repaired Shoulder on Social Media
As for the Texans, we got great news on the injury front last last week, as safety Justin Reid announced from his hospital bed that his injured shoulder is repaired and will be good to go, very soon! I haven't heard confirmation as to EXACTLY when Reid tore the labrum in his shoulder, but he tweeted last week that it happened before the season. I do remember a preseason practice with the Detroit Lions where Reid left the practice field for an extended period of time, and was clearly favoring a shoulder. Conley is an underrated x-factor for next season, as he started to look more comfortable as the season wore on. He's a former first round pick with two more seasons still remaining on his rookie deal.
houstonpress.comThe Anthology of Texans Safety Justin Reid, Red Zone Problem Solver
Justin Reid has been the rock of this Texans secondary for the last two seasons. We don't know exactly what caused the Texans to sour on Gaine, and we may never know the full truth. Not even two seasons in, Reid already has the swagger and savvy of a veteran leader, and the productivity to match. So let's relive the magic of Texans' safety Justin Reid, who when it comes to solving problems for the Texans in the shadows of their own goalposts, is basically like The Wolf from "Pulp Fiction." 101 yard pick six for Texans rookie Justin Reid ???
houstonpress.comBye week comes at perfect time for Texans
(PhotoHOUSTON - The Texans are in their bye week, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The bye week is a great time to rehab and rest, and head coach Bill O'Brien said the injured players will still receive treatment. Every NFL team, of course, gets a bye week. "I think any time the bye week comes halfway through the season, it's a good thing," O'Brien said. But the bye week is essential for the mental health of the players, as well.

abc13.comFour Thoughts On The Houston Texans' Madden 2020 Scores
And you know who cares more about Madden scores than anybody else? It was Anderson, who was steamed and incredulous over how the programmers of Madden had dissed him with a player score in the mid 60s somewhere. In the ten years since then, with the rise of social media and online gaming, the importance of the Madden scores have exploded, with many players taking great umbrage with their scores each season. The 2019 scores were released earlier this week, and the Texans' player scores contain some very interesting wrinkles. Somehow, the good folks programming the Madden game found Deshaun Watson to be a lesser quarterback than Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield (both scored an 83).
