INSTANT REACTION: Argyle Dominates From the Start to Claim No. 2
ARLINGTON - In typical Argyle fashion, the offense went to work right away as CJ Rogers threw a 44-yard dime on the game's first play, and then Offensive MVP Tito Byce finished off the drive. Lindale had no answer for the Argyle offense, which finished with the four most yards in a state title game at 571. On the flip side, Lindale had nothing going for it as the Argyle defense held the potent Lindale rushing attack to just 46 yards in the half. After Byce got his in the first half, Rogers went to work in the second half, throwing three touchdowns to keep the game well in hand. And after the final gun and the Gatorade bath, the biggest sigh of relieve came out of coach Todd Rogers.
STATE PREVIEW: 4A DI Argyle vs. Lindale
For the sixth time in the Todd Rogers era, Argyle (15-0, Region II champion) is in the state championship but not since 2015. After downing Decatur, Waco La Vega and Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the regular season, the word out in the ether was "this is the year." The biggest hurdle, though, was getting past La Vega in the playoffs. Standing in the way is Lindale, which is making its first-ever appearance in a state final. Arlington backed into the playoffs winning just one of its last three played games.

DFW Football: 4 Not-So-Knee-Jerk Takeaways from Week 12/Week 7
Playoffs in 4A and below are a week old, and we're nearing the end of the 6A, 5A and private school regular seasons. Because of this pandemic-caused overlap in schedules, there's a lot to unpack from this past week, but here are five of the most keen observations. TAPPS Playoffs Will Be FunParish Episcopal won a very entertaining state title rematch with Plano John Paul II a couple weeks ago. This past week, Fort Worth Nolan took down Parish in a 1-vs-2 matchup, scoring 31 unanswered points. Well it did Friday night against a state-ranked team, which should serve notice of what to expect come playoff time.
DFW Football: What We Learned Week 10/Week 6
Rowlett now leads 9-6A at 2-0 in district play with four teams - Garland, Lakeview Centennial, Naaman Forest and Sachse - all chasing with 2-1 district records. Last year had a wild ending within this district and it's likely to happen again this year. From the jump, it was all Frisco Lone Star as Jaden Nixon scored three different ways for Lone Star - rushing, receiving, punt return. It marked the fifth straight game Argyle scored 45 points or more and was the fourth game this year the defense allowed nine or less points. Grandview needed a turnover on the game's final play to seal the win in what was an entertaining non-district matchup in the middle of district play.
