Candace Burns

Anchor / Reporter

Candace Burns is excited to be in Houston, Texas. She moved to the Lone Star State in January of 2023 after marrying her husband, a lifelong Houstonian. Candace anchors the 4 p.m. newscast at KPRC 2. She writes and contributes news reports that help keep the community informed. Candace loves sharing inspiring stories about people who make the community a better place for everyone to live, work, and play.

Before moving to Houston, Candace worked in Richmond, Virginia. She served as the weeknight news anchor at WTVR. While in Richmond, Candace helped viewers navigate many challenging circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic, historic elections and breaking news events. She demonstrated her tough but fair interviewing skills while serving as one of two panelists during Virginia's gubernatorial debate in September of 2021. Candace also used her innovative skills to help the station launch new shows and franchises that focused on keeping viewers engaged in their community and getting them help and answers from people in authority.

Candace spent time anchoring and reporting in Michigan. She worked in Flint-Saginaw, Lansing, and Alpena. 

Several organizations have recognized Candace for her dedication to journalism and her service to the community. She has earned two Emmy awards for her work.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.

Candace enjoys working out, cooking, volunteering, sewing, nature, photography, and spending time with loved ones. 

She graduated from Wichita State University with a major in Broadcast Journalism. She was a scholarship athlete on the Shocker women's basketball team.
