VYPE: How long have you been playing soccer and how did you get your start?

GHONDA: I've been playing soccer since I was three years old, and my parents were the ones who got me into it. They made me play a lot of sports when I was younger like tennis and basketball, but soccer was the only one I really stuck with.

VYPE: Who's your favorite soccer team?

GHONDA: I love watching PSG. I like Antoinette Katoto because she plays similarly to the way I would like to play.

VYPE: Go-to pregame meal? Routine?

GHONDA: I never really get nervous before my games. I'm usually pretty excited because playing is the part I love the most about soccer. I make sure to get a good night's sleep and eat something light and easy to digest about two hours before. Then before I leave I go pass against the wall to really get in the zone. On the way to the game, I'm usually quiet and listen to music to focus.

VYPE: Off the field, what is your favorite thing to do?

GHONDA: Between school, club soccer, high-school soccer, and training, I don't have a lot of free time. When I do, I like to go thrifting with my friends.

VYPE: In all of your years of soccer, what is the one memory you'll never forget?

GHONDA: In 2019, we were the underdogs for the ECNL champions league in San Diego. We played against a tough team and we didn't think we were going to win. We were losing 1-0 for the majority of the game. At the very last minute, one of our defenders cleared the ball to the right forward who hit it with her hip and gave me the opportunity for a fast break. I ran 40 yards then hit the ball from a wide-angle at the top box. I don't remember thinking about the shot, but I remember the sound of the shot as it hit the net and I knew it was in. I also got smothered by teammates for bringing us to the national quarterfinals.
