Witnesses help police catch suspect after shooting in SW Houston, officials say

HOUSTON – Witnesses assisted police catch a man who they watched shoot another man and run into a nearby apartment complex, officials said. 

The victim was standing in the parking lot of the Sunny's Food Store on Renwick Drive around 2:15 a.m. Sunday when another the shooter walked up to him and allegedly tried to rob him, authorities said.

According to police, the two men got into an argument before the shooter pulled a gun and shot the victim in the stomach. 

A couple of witnesses told police they saw the man run into a nearby apartment complex, which is where officers found him and arrested him.

The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive. 


The accused shooter faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
