VIDEO: Splendora ISD police chief performs CPR, revives infant girl

SPLENDORA, Texas – Incredible bodycam footage shows the moments Splendora Independent School District police chief Rex Evans was flagged down while at a busy intersection by one very frightened family.

"When I saw the panic on everybody's faces in the vehicle, I knew there was something very serious," Evans said.

Within seconds, he found out why they were worried: A small child inside the van was not breathing.

"The baby was very discolored, the eyes were rolled back and I immediately started some compressions," Evans said.

Ambulances arrived within minutes.

Fortunately, by the time they got there, the baby was once again breathing on its own, which came as a relief to the family, and just as much to Evans.

"Within about a minute or so, the baby's eyes rolled back forward, and (it) started immediately breathing and crying. It was just such a relief," Evans said.
