Teen girl raped near The Woodlands High School, authorities say

Constables search for suspect

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Officials are looking for a man who is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in March near The Woodlands High School.

The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office said it received on Thursday a report of a sexual assault of a child.

Detectives said they believe that on March 21 at around 10:30 p.m. the girl left a school function and was walking down a jogging trail when she was snatched by a man in his mid-20s. Investigators said the man sexually assaulted her.

“At that time she was approached from behind by a male suspect who dragged her off into the bushes on the side of the jogging path and sexually assaulted her," Chief Deputy Matthew Rodrigue said.

Rodrigue said forensic sketch artist will meet with the teen to draw a picture of the suspect.  Investigators said the teen came forward to authorities on Thursday.

Officials are warning the public to use caution and be aware of your surroundings. They are advising people to travel in groups and to report suspicious persons or activity.

Rodrigue said he does not believe this incident is related to the multiple sexual assaults at Trailpoint Apartments in The Woodlands.

The suspect in that case has been described as a Hispanic male with a scar over his left eye.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact Detective Acosta at 936-538-3414 or Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 936-539-7867.
