HOUSTON – Bill Spencer and the Spencer Solves It team are rolling up their sleeves, putting their jeans on and going to work to clean up a huge neighborhood eyesore.
For more than a year, residents in the Ridgemont subdivision in southwest Houston have been calling 311, complaining about a vacant lot that has become horribly overgrown with tall grasses and covered with trash and debris.

The lot has turned into a massive, ugly and dangerous dump, teeming with snakes and rats.
Just last week, Carmella Stone, a 70-year-old U.S. Army veteran who risked her life serving as an emergency operating nurse in Vietnam, walked through the ever-growing eyesore -- just five houses from where she lives -- and shook her head in disgust.

“I see carpeting, debris. I see air conditioning ducts. I see piping and broken drywall and broken tile. It is disgusting and it’s getting bigger everyday,” Stone said.
It’s not just ugly, the vacant lot at the corner of East Ridgecreek Drive and Booth Street is also being taken over by tall grasses that have become home to all kinds of rodents and vermin.
“Whoever is in charge of this and whoever owns this needs to own up, and they need to mow it and clean it up,” Stone said.
After calling the city for more than a year pleading for help getting the vacant lot cleaned up, Carmella decided to call Spencer Solves It last week.
Days later, Spencer brought in a small team of helpers from Lansdowne-Moody, a farm and landscape equipment dealer in Houston, a company that sells tractors, tillers, lawnmowers and construction equipment.
On Wednesday, from 3 until 6:30 p.m., Spencer and Shane Kittman, of Lansdowne-Moody, worked to clean the dangerous, overgrown lot.
