Shoppers wait outside Galleria for fashion collaboration release that might not come

HOUSTON – For those that wait, time ticks slowly.

“I've been hanging out since Monday,” Leon McCloney said.

“Got nothing better to do on a Friday, or a Thursday, or a Wednesday, whatever today is,” Mario Rios said.

Lined up along West Alabama Street in The Galleria, this group of strangers shares a common hope: to be some of the first to get their hands on a limited release of fashion wear.

“Basically this is a new collection between Louis Vuitton and Supreme. It's a fashion design collab,” McCloney said.

“I've been buying Supreme since I was a sophomore in high school,” Anthony Ruiz said.

But here's the thing, Tuesday night reports started coming out that any further releases were not happening. So why are they still here?

“A Louis rep has been saying that there's no in-store. A pop-up store has never been an in-store release,” Rios said.

Rios argues Louis Vuitton hasn't sent out anything definitive, however, an argument can be made that Louis Vuitton also never definitively said Houston would be home to a pop-up.

In fact, the only instance we could find of Louis Vuitton mentioning Houston was a tweet from their verified @LVServices account on June 28.

We followed up on the tweet by calling their customer service line and got this response, "[the Supreme collection] will not be available in any stores at this present time."

“It's a gamble regardless. Nobody's going to be upset that if Friday comes, it doesn't happen. We've been told all along that it's a possibility it couldn't happen," Rios said.

“I don't care who says what, I'm going to be here until Friday,” Anthony Shea said.
