NEW TERRITORY, Texas - A vehicle flipped off of a bridge Monday, closing the northbound lanes of State Highway 99 Grand Parkway near New Territory.
The crash was reported about 12:15 p.m.
Sugar Land police officers said a Toyota SUV traveling northbound on Grand Parkway had hit a guardrail and flipped over onto the embankment. Police said five people inside the Toyota were trapped in the vehicle before being rescued.
Police said all passengers and the driver suffered minor injuries and four people were taken to a hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
According to a tweet from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the highway is closed just before the Brazos River.
Drivers were urged to use Southwest Freeway to University Boulevard to New Territory Boulevard to get around the closure.
It is unknown why the SUV hit the guardrail.
