Pair of vehicle fires prompt arson investigation in Cypress

CYPRESS, Texas – The Harris County Fire Marshal's office is now investigating two vehicle fires that happened early Tuesday morning in Cypress.

The first happened around 4:45 a.m. in the 13500 block of Montaigne Drive, then a short time later a pickup truck was burning around the corner on Monique Drive.

The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department worked both calls along with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, who decided the Fire Marshal's office needed to be brought in to investigate possible arson.

"What we think they're doing is breaking in and then trying to cover their tracks and cover any evidence that they may have left behind with the fire," said Rachel Moreno with the Harris County Fire Marshal's office.

Investigators want neighbors to check their surveillance cameras to see if the crimes and criminals were recorded on video.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
