Man climbs radio tower after running from deputies, officials say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man climbed a radio tower after running from authorities Thursday, according to officials.

Harris County Sheriff's Office authorities said they responded to a burglary at an Academy Sports + Outdoors store at the intersection of West Road and I-45.

Deputies were able to identify the suspects and showed up at their residence, when a man walked up, then turned and ran off when he saw deputies.

The man started climbing the tower near I-45 and West Road, authorities said.

A negotiator was on the scene trying to talk the man down.

Around 11 p.m., the man climbed down.

Deputies said the man might not be involved in the burglary, but was scared when he saw officers so he ran.

No charges are expected to be filed.
