BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Brazoria County leaders have ordered more people out of their homes. A heartbreaking scene, as families know it may be awhile before they can return.
“There’s nothing I can do now,” resident Rob Cole said. “There’s none of my belongings I can save. It’s all gone.”

Brazoria County crews have rescued several people — including Cole — the Holiday Lakes area. Cole said he grabbed his bag of clothes, his dog and then left.
“It’s pretty devastating,” Cole said. “But we got to hang in there. At least I’m alive. I got my health.”
Besides people, rescue crews also saved dozens of cows trapped in flood waters in Angleton. The team spent hours guiding the cattle to higher ground.
The Longhorn Estates community on CR 28 and Bailey’s Prairie located south of SH 35 were also issued mandatory evacuation orders from Brazoria County officials.
“Leave before it’s too late,” resident Janice Smithhart said. “You don’t want to cross the roadways when there’s water. You never know, depending on which way the water is flowing, you could be in a 10-feet deep ditch like that.”
Resident Jesus Sosa said he plans to stay put.
"I'm taking my dogs to higher ground. I'll be back," Sosa said. “Mandatory only means 911 don’t come in. That’s all it means.”
Several others who tried to stay now disagree with Sosa, and have joined the warning calls for everyone to get out while they can.
A mandatory curfew is currently place for the evacuation zones.
The Texas Department of Transportation closed FM 521 from Highway 288B to the Brazos River in Brazoria County because of intense area flooding, according to an announcement via Twitter Sunday night.

The TxDOT shutdown all the southbound lanes of Highway 35 from Highway 288 to the Brazos River because of severe flooding, according to TxDOT officials.
A mandatory evacuation was issued Sunday afternoon for residents living in the Bar X Ranch area, a Brazoria County Disaster spokesperson announced via Twitter.

Officials have issued a mandatory evacuation order for the town of Bailey's Prairie in Brazoria County.
The affected area is south of state highway 35 and west of the Angleton protection levee.
Residents in the area are being ordered to get out due to flooding in the area.
