Driver ejected, killed after SUV plunges into lake near Brazos River in Fort Bend County

RICHMOND, Texas – A man was killed Friday after crashing his SUV into Old River Lake near the Brazos River in Fort Bend County, officials said.

Investigators said the crash happened around 4 a.m in the area of Highway 90 and FM 359 in Richmond.

The 20-year-old driver was traveling on FM 259 when police said he ran a light at the intersection, crashed through a concrete barrier and was ejected from the SUV before it landed in the oxbow lake, investigators said.

The man, who is from the Mission Bend area, was given CPR and taken to Oak Bend Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
