Man accused of attacking, kidnapping teen at Dickinson park

DICKINSON, Texas – A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he attacked and then kidnapped a teen girl at a Dickinson park, according to police.

The incident was reported about 12:50 a.m. at Paul Hopkins Park on FM Road 517.

Dickinson police said a 16-year-old girl told officers a man assaulted her and dragged her down a trail at the park when she tried to call for help. He then let her go and ran from the park, police said.

"She snuck out and she was just walking around the park," said Det. Lupe Vasquez, of the Dickinson Police Department. "He punched her several times. She did have some injuries to the face."

Officers began a search of the area and a K-9 found 24-year-old Bryan Ford about 100 yards from the park, police said.

According to court documents, the girl told police that Ford approached her on a dock at the park and tried to hug and kiss her. She said that when she denied his advances, Ford choked her and she lost consciousness.

Ford told detectives that he and the girl met on a social media app and they got into a fight when they discussed exchanging money for sexual favors.

Investigators described Ford as a transient.

Ford is charged with aggravated kidnapping and was being held in the Galveston County Jail on $100,000 bond.
