‘Cube Against Cancer’ making hospital stays more bearable for child patients

HOUSTON – A Rubik’s cube competition is helping make hospital stays more bearable for pediatric cancer patients, with the help of a local non-profit.

The event is called Cube Against Cancer and it holds a special place in our hearts here at KPRC 2.

When a member of our station’s family, Ethan, the son of our colleague Brian Perry, was in the hospital battling cancer, he turned to a Rubik’s cube to help get his mind off things.

Tragically, Ethan lost his battle, but his memory lives on as part of this official speed cubing competition.

Competitors donated Rubik’s cubes to Ethan’s Ohana, which will distribute the cubes to pediatric cancer patients around Houston.

The cubes also help the kids focus on something positive while they are in treatment.
