2 dead in north Houston wrong-way crash

HOUSTON – Two people died in a crash involving a wrong-way driver in north Houston on Saturday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers were called to Interstate 45 near Tidwell Road at approximately 4:10 a.m. due to the crash.

One vehicle had been traveling north on the southbound lanes and crashed into a second vehicle that had been heading south.

A black sedan and an SUV were involved in the crash.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

All southbound lanes near the crash were also closed for several hours, but they have since been reopened.

Police said they don’t suspect the drivers were intoxicated, but this case is still being investigated.
