Woman dies after shots fired at her vehicle at traffic light in NW Houston

A woman died after shots were fired at her vehicle while she was stopped at a traffic light in northwest Houston on Saturday, the Houston Police Department said. (KPRC)

HOUSTON – A woman died after shots were fired at her vehicle while she was stopped at a traffic light in northwest Houston on Saturday, the Houston Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched around 2 a.m. regarding a shooting in the 9500 block of North Houston Rosslyn Road.

A car had been heading north on N. Houston Rosslyn Road and stopped at a traffic light. Then, another person fired shots at the vehicle.

The driver lost control and the car crashed into a dumpster in a parking lot in the area.

One woman in the vehicle was shot and died at the scene. There was passenger in the vehicle, and officers did not say if she was injured. The women’s names were not provided.

Police do not know if this was a road rage shooting or targeted incident.

This case is under investigation. Officers are still talking to witnesses and searching for surveillance video.
