Gov. Greg Abbott talks about preps for winter weather headed to Texas

TEXAS – Governor Greg Abbott spoke about the state’s response to the winter weather impacting Texas this weekend and next week.

Abbott spoke about weather winterizations, ERCOT conditions, and heat in resident’s homes.

“We feel very good about the status of the Texas power grid and ERCOT to be able to effectively and successfully ensure that the power is going to stay on throughout the entirety of this winter storm episode,” Abbott said.

Abbott encouraged Texans to prepare ahead of time for any weather events that could transpire between now and next Wednesday.

“You just need to be well prepared for a multi-day long period of being surrounded by extraordinary cold weather,” he added.

He also said that anyone who ventures out to drive during any precipitation needs to be super cautious. “If you do not need to be driving, don’t do so.”
