HOUSTON – The first week of 2024 looks to be an active one in the weather department with two days where rain is a pretty good bet for people living in southeast Texas.

We are seeing some cloud cover on New Year’s Day. That is in response to our next approaching weather system which will arrive on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, rain chances will be on the increase as the day progresses. By the evening, many areas across southeast Texas will be seeing a good soaking. No severe weather or flooding is expected, but areas could see anywhere from .25-1.50 inches of rain. Future track is keeping most of the heaviest rainfall in coastal areas, but other areas may see some heavy rainfall amounts as well.

Past Tuesday, we should be quiet and partly cloudy for Wednesday and Thursday before a stronger, more potent system arrives on Friday. Right now, the rainfall on Friday looks to be heavy enough to keep at least a low risk of flooding for the area. Details will get clearer the closer we get to the event.
