Police searching for suspect accused of shooting woman during child custody situation in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – Officers with the Houston Police Department are searching for a suspect accused of shooting a woman in southeast Houston.

Chasity Nicole Bougere, 24, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 183rd State District Court. The identity of the 24-year-old victim has not been released at this time.

On Oct. 8, HPD patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex located at 9800 Hollock St. at about 10:55 p.m.

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they learned about a physical altercation that occurred regarding a child custody situation. The woman had been shot in the arm by Bougere and had left the scene, investigators said.

A short time later, police said they learned the woman had been transported by private vehicle to an area hospital.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Bougere was subsequently charged for her alleged role in the incident. She is not in custody.
