Neighborhoods around the Houston area take action after trash pick up problems

HOUSTON – It’s a mess Texas Pride Disposal may not be able to clean up fast enough. Some Houston-area Home Owners’ Associations and even MUD districts have started to cut their contracts with the trash company over inconsistent service.

On Wednesday, MUD #495 notified Katy homeowners that Texas Pride was no longer their provider for garbage and recycling.

Mark Searcy, who lives in the Marisol subdivision, said Best Trash came by Wednesday morning to pick up what Texas Pride left lingering for more than a week.

“We actually had to get the attorney for the utility district involved,” Searcy said. “We’ve just been getting the run around. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Tomorrow never came for Texas Pride.”

Searcy said their contract with Texas Pride was not set to expire until the end of the month.

“I guess it was just the lies that Texas Pride was given that made us say, ‘OK, we have to get with the new company’ and tried to get them to start early,” Searcy added.

Last Friday, the Heatherwood subdivision in Cypress signed a contract with Farmers after dumping Texas Pride for inconsistent service.
