HOUSTON – Houston Police Chief Troy Finner and other members of the Houston Police Department will announce the kickoff of HPD’S 37th Annual Comida/food drive to feed those in need during the holiday season Monday.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, HPD, Kroger, and the Pepsi Bottling Group will distribute boxed holiday meals to 400 pre-selected families, according to a news release.

The Comida/food drive began 37 years ago with an officer’s concern for the less fortunate citizens of Houston.

That began what is today one of the largest food drives in the City of Houston, the news release said.

Distribution of the food drive will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at HPD’s headquarters located at 1200 Travis Street in downtown Houston.
