Juvenile accused of shooting at officers during chase in NW Houston

HOUSTON – A juvenile has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer after authorities said he fired shots at Houston police officers at 3602 Hollister Road early Wednesday morning.

Houston Police Department officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically in the 8000 block of Pitner Road, but the driver refused to stop, according to authorities.

During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a culvert and at least four people got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, police said.

Officers immediately detained one female juvenile.

While the others ran fro the scene, one of them turned and fired a gun several times in the direction of the officers, but no one was struck, according to police.

The detained female told officers where they would be hiding. They were found and detained at an apartment complex at 8650 Pitner Road.

A 16-year-old was identified as the shooter and charged, police said.

No HPD officers fired their weapon.

The investigation in ongoing.
