Coast Guard rescues man, 3 kids from sinking boat

GALVESTON, Texas – The Coast Guard rescued a man and his three children stranded 10 miles off the Galveston coast as their boat was sinking, officials said.

The man noticed that his boat was malfunctioning at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning as he was out fishing with his three kids.

The man, whose name has not been released by the coast guard, called officials and told them he was stranded with his kids who are 22, 15 and 14 years old, authorities said.

According to authorities, an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and the Station Galveston boat crew found boaters around 2:50 a.m. Sunday.

The man, his children and his boat were taken safely back to the Galveston Yacht Basin around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.
