Business fire leads to power outage in NW Houston

HOUSTON – Several people are without power Sunday after a fire caused damage at a business in northwest Houston.

Investigators said firefighters were called to a building fire at 9 p.m. Saturday at Decor to Remember at 5710 Bridge Forest Dr.

Officials said flames burst throughout the building. The fire spread to the power poles next to the building and burned the wires and transformers, causing a major power outage.

Firefighters said about 2,000 residents were left without power. According to CenterPoint Energy, all power was restored as of 6:04 a.m.

Investigators said the fire originated in the back of the building where there was a large amount of linen and cloth.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
