HOUSTON - Authorities took one person into custody and released a photo of a person of interest after searching the University of Houston campus for a person with a weapon Tuesday afternoon.

An alert from the university said the person was considered dangerous and instructed students to avoid the west side of campus.

The all-clear was given on campus around 4 p.m. after authorities said the suspect was no longer on campus. The athletic complex and all other facilities were searched and cleared.

Police said they were following aggravated robbery suspects from Pasadena when the suspects realized the police were behind them near the intersection of I-45 and Cullen Boulevard

The men got out of the vehicle and ran, according to police.

No campus buildings were placed on lockdown during the search.

Authorities were searching near the baseball field, but stopped searching on campus around 4 p.m.

Detectives said two out of three vehicles involved in the incident were stolen. One of them was taken at gunpoint in Houston.
