4 detained after chase from Baytown to east Houston, police say

HOUSTON – Baytown police said the chase started near Garth Road and I-10 when authorities spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle used by a suspect wanted for multiple car break-ins, police said.

The driver in the vehicle, a black Chevrolet Avalanche, refused to stop for police and started the chase, according to police.

A resident caught some of the chase on video.

"I heard the helicopter coming, and the cops, so I looked at the corner so I knew that there was a car chase coming my way so I started recording," Leo Jay Galvan said.

The truck crashed just past his house.

"When it came back around, one of the guys bailed out right here in this corner," Galvan said.

The vehicle crashed on Abernathy Street, near Love Street.

Other neighbors voiced concern over the incident.

"When my son turned around and turned the corner we saw this, I thought what the hell done happened here? It's a nice quiet neighborhood," said worried neighbor Lisa Brazil.

The truck was stolen, police said.

There is no word on the charges, if any, that the detained people will face.
