HUMBLE, Texas - Three people were arrested after robbing a Cleveland man who had just pulled out $1,800 to pay a contractor for repairs made due to Hurricane Harvey, according to investigators.
The man withdrew the cash from a Wells Fargo in Cleveland Tuesday afternoon. On his way home, he stopped at a store at East River Road and U.S. 59.
When he was inside the store, he looked towards his truck and saw two men going through his truck.
When he went outside, one of the men pulled out a gun and told him to get on the ground, according to investigators. The robbers then left the scene.
The man got in his truck and followed the robbers as he called 911, according to authorities.
He chased the robbers south at speeds reaching nearly 130 mph, authorities said.
Authorities set up a road block at S.H. 99, which is where the robbers and the man giving chase stopped.
The three men were taken into custody. One man was charged with evading arrest in Montgomery County and the other two men are being charged with aggravated robbery in Liberty County.
Only about half of the money was recovered. Authorities said the robbers were throwing it out of the window during the chase.
