Houston police said Malik was reported missing Dec. 6 by his family in Fort Bend County. Malik’s body was found the next night in a dumpster by someone who was taking out their trash, police said.

Investigators said Malik left his home the evening of Dec. 6 to meet someone about selling his blue 2009 Audi A8. That meeting happened in the area of Bellaire Boulevard and State Highway 6, investigators said.

Authorities said that detectives from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Police Department worked together and identified Funches and the teenage girl as suspects in the case.

The pair was arrested without incident, police said.

The girl is being charged as a juvenile at this time, meaning her name and mugshot will not be released.

Malik had four children, according to his family.
