Teen shoots girlfriend inside northwest Houston apartment, police say

HOUSTON – A man was arrested Friday after police said he fled the scene after a gun he was handling fired, injuring his girlfriend.

The shooting was reported about 12:10 a.m. in the 8100 block of Mills Road.

Houston police said Ezra Carter, 18, and his girlfriend were in an apartment recording and sharing videos of Carter with a pistol in his hand. The weapon fired and the shot hit Carter's girlfriend in her side, police said.

The girl was taken to a hospital. She was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police said that Carter fled the scene with the gun, but later turned himself in to authorities.
