HOUSTON – There are haunted house tours and stops all over town at this time of year. But if you really want to see something scary, try checking out a real haunted location. We've rounded up the top 10 spots across the Houston area where paranormal activity reportedly occurs.

Battleship Texas

The Battleship Texas was involved in World War I and World War II. Once retired from service, the Battleship Texas was parked east of Houston, near the San Jacinto Battlefield. This has been a popular site for paranormal activity, where people have claimed to hear unexplained noises and witness other bizarre activity. There is also a ghost figure that has been seen moving around the vessel and hanging out on different decks. He's usually smiling at people.
 
La Carafe Bar
813 Congress St., Houston
 
Built in 1866, La Carafe is believed to be the oldest bar in Houston. The building is allegedly haunted by a former bartender named Carl. There have been reports of footsteps, glasses breaking and the sound of objects being moved around.
 
Glenwood Cemetery
2525 Washington Ave., Houston
 
If any place is going to be haunted, it will probably be a cemetery. Glenwood Cemetery, along Buffalo Bayou, is the final resting place of many influential Houstonians, and probably the most well-known is famed aviator Howard Hughes. The owner of the cemetery was murdered and his ghost is said to haunt the property. Paranormal investigators have frequently picked up electromagnetic field abnormalities, which can indicate ghost activity, at the cemetery.
 
Julia Ideson Building

This building is right across the street from downtown Houston's main library branch. It's been said that the library caretaker from the 1900s haunts the nearby Julia Ideson building and his dog makes appearances, too. The caretaker died in the basement in 1936. Employees report hearing violin music and the clicking of feet on the marble floors in the hallways.

Its architecture makes this beautiful home look like something out of a scary movie -- in a good way. There are spires and rooftop decks adorning the building. It's said to be haunted by its former owner, Veterans Affairs nurse Charles Fondow. He died in 2011 and is said to roam the hallways of the home.
 
Spaghetti Warehouse -- closed now for flood repairs

The Spaghetti Warehouse in downtown Houston is closed right now for flood repairs, but it's one of the most popular spots in the area for ghost sightings. The restaurant was once a pharmaceutical warehouse. Legend says the owner of the company died while working on the elevator and his wife found him after a brief search. The ghost of a woman has been seen walking around the area and guests have reported seeing strange things while visiting the restaurant. The website for the Spaghetti Warehouse's Houston location says the company plans on reopening as soon as possible. Keep this stop on your list to check out ghost activity.
 
Old Town Spring

Old Town Spring is sometimes called the ghost capital of Texas. There are more than 100 shops and restaurants in the small area and there has been ghost activity reported at more than 40 spots. Things are often moved around in the shops and there is a headless train worker who walks the streets. It's believed the area is haunted by Native Americans, or the haunting has something to do with the nearby railroad. Many ghost tours take place in the area.
 
First Line Apartments (Camino Del Sol Apartments)

The ghost of a woman in white is said to haunt the First Line Apartments in Pasadena. She has been seen pacing the hallways and rooms. People who live there say they hear strange noises, and that odd things are always happening. Drivers have reported seeing the so-called "woman in white" in a window, staring down at the street below.
 
Hotel Galvez

Hotel Galvez in Galveston is probably one of the most popular haunted spots in Southeast Texas. The hotel even offers ghost tours on occasion. A female guest allegedly hanged herself in a room on the fifth floor after finding out her husband had been killed. She still haunts the floor and does such things as slam doors, flush toilets and turn on lights. Paranormal investigators have captured photographic evidence of a ghost while staying at the hotel.
 
Cinemark Tinseltown Woodlands
1600 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands

The Cinemark Tinseltown 17 was allegedly built on the property where a fire destroyed an old trailer park in the 1970s. People who died in the fire allegedly haunt the movie theater. People have reported seeing the ghost of a man and a small boy. There have also been unusual sounds reported and people say they sometimes just get the overwhelming feeling that someone is watching them.
