Powerlines toppled on Northwest Freeway near West Loop after severe storm blows through

HOUSTON – Severe storms left their mark on the Houston area as they moved through Thursday evening.

KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding was in the thick of it on Hwy. 290 the Northwest Freeway.

Goulding came across multiple powerline towers that were damaged and bent over.

At one point, the downed lines were draped across the highway, closing it down in both directions.

First responders were on the scene quickly and were able to get the lines off the roadway, opening it back up to traffic.

More powerlines were toppled over in the Cypress area as well.
