Woman accused of leaving 1-year-old granddaughter in car outside Walmart

Person in parking lot alerted others

HOUSTON – A woman is facing charges after police said she left her 1-year-old granddaughter inside a car at a Walmart parking lot in southwest Houston.

Ophelia Regina Frazier, 54, is facing charges of abandoning/endangering a child without intent to return.

Houston police said Frazier went shopping at the Walmart on Beechnut Street and South Kirkwood Road on June 2.

Police said she left her granddaughter in the car for about 15 minutes before someone in the parking lot saw the girl and alerted others.

According to police, the girl's mother came to the store to pick up her daughter.

Frazier was arrested on a $2,000 bond, which she later made.
