Police search for driver in deadly hit-and-run

HOUSTON – Houston police are asking for the public's help in finding the person they believe is responsible for a fatal hit-and-run in southwest Houston.

Police said Courtney Sims, 36, was crossing the street at 5:45 p.m. in the 10300 block of Bissonnet when he was struck by a dark-colored truck traveling west toward the Beltway. 

According to police, Sims was not crossing at a crosswalk.

Sims was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Sims’ mother said she hasn't been able to sleep since her son died two months ago.

“Whoever killed my child, please turn yourself in cause I don’t want nothing but justice for you,” said Nina Sims. “I love him and I miss him. I cannot sleep at night thinking about my baby.”
