Friend makes plea for community's help to find man who shot, killed father at D-Bar in Third Ward

HOUSTON – It’s been four months since 39-year-old Untorio Jones was shot and killed inside D-Bar in Third Ward after accidentally bumping into someone.

"When he made it to the bar, I'm assuming he stepped on the guys feet or bumped the guy, and some words were said. He called me over there, because there were two guys and when he called me over there, I heard him say, 'You didn't give me enough time to say anything,'" said Jones’ cousin, Corey Winzer.

Mark Joshua Hall, 27, is accused of shooting Jones.  Hall, also known by his rap name as Marque Swingswerve, had not been caught.

“Just to keep putting out there that we're still looking for Mark Hall still haven't found him,” explained Kristen Collins, a close friend of Jones.  “We know it's him and someone to turn him in.”

Collins and Jones took a trip to Colorado together last December, two weeks before the father of four and special education teacher was killed.

“He was open, friendly, always wanting to help somebody and just had a smile that would light up a room,” said Collins about Jones.

He would have been 40 years old on April 21, which is why his family and other community members are hosting a three-day event.

They’re having a balloon release and vigil at Parkside Cemetery on April 21 at 6 p.m. It’s located at 10401 West Montgomery Road in Houston.

On Saturday at the Houston Hip Hop Awards they’re honoring Jones at 5 p.m. at 9255 S. Main St.  then a party for him at KOKO Night Club.

The family is also hosting a free family day in the park at Independence Heights Park at 603 E. 35th St.  with free food, games, moonwalks and dunk tanks.

Crime Stoppers has increased the reward to $7,500 for information on whereabouts of Mark Joshua Hall.

If you have any information on where Hall might be, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
