Video shows confrontation before deputy-involved shooting in north Houston

HOUSTON – One person was killed Tuesday, and another person was arrested after a deputy-involved shooting in north Houston, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 2:17 p.m. near the intersection of Airline Drive and Hill Road.

Investigators said the shooting happened when Harris County deputies spotted a truck that had been reported stolen earlier. They said the truck was stolen from the Garden Oaks neighborhood around 2 p.m.

A technician with Morgan Air Services was finishing a job at a home when his truck was stolen, investigators said.

He told his boss, who alerted authorities.

The truck had a GPS tracking device, enabling authorities to track the truck to an area near West Mount Houston and Airline Road.

Two Harris County Sheriff's Office patrol cars boxed in the stolen truck, according to reports.

Four deputies then got out of their vehicles and confronted two men who were with the truck.

The driver of the truck then used the vehicle to ram the cruisers of Harris County deputies, according to investigators.

Investigators said four deputies fired at the driver, killing him. The other man attempted to run, deputies said.

They said the man was caught a short time later in nearby woods.

Investigators said the pair was believed to be involved in earlier robberies, as well.
