Homeowner shot during home invasion in Third Ward, police say

HOUSTON – A homeowner was shot Wednesday at a home in Third Ward during a home invasion, police said.

Two men forced their way into an apartment on Attucks at Alabama and held the residents inside at gunpoint, police said. The two robbed a man and shot him at least once, according to investigators.

"Two unknown suspects forced their way inside of the house and a physical altercation took place during the altercation, we have the homeowner, who was shot at least one time by the suspects, who stole property inside his home. they've left, the complainant is actually being treated at a local hospital at this time," said Ken Nealy with the Houston police

The homeowner was taken to the hospital in serious condition. He is expected to survive.

The two thieves got away before police arrived.
