Man calls Yellow Cab to escape police, officials say

HOUSTON – A man was arrested after deputies said he led them on a chase in North Harris County and then attempted to escape using a Yellow Cab.

Officials said they attempted to stop 27-year-old Christopher Jones when he sped through a stop sign at a high rate of speed.

Jones refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit from the 600 block of Cypresswood Drive and Lujuana Drive.

Investigators said Jones jumped out of the vehicle in a parking lot and fled on foot.

An extensive search was underway in the area when a Yellow Cab approached the perimeter and was stopped for questioning.

Deputies discovered the Yellow Cab driver had received a call in that area and the information provided to the cab driver matched the deputies' description of Jones.

That information from the cab driver led deputies to an address where Jones was hiding in a backyard patio area.

Jones was arrested and was charged with felony evading in a motor vehicle. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
