Chefs from all over gather to cook for family, friends at World Championship Bar-B-Que competition

HOUSTON – The World's Championship Bar-B-Que cook-off is just one of many events that take place before the 2017 Houston livestock show and rodeo begins on Monday.

Music, food and fun draws hundreds of teams to compete to see who can cook up the best "Bar-B-Que."

The World’s Championship Bar-B-Que competition kicked off Thursday at NRG Park.

"Well, it's a lot of fun and it kicks off one of the greatest seasons in Houston -- the rodeo," Lisa Beasley said.

Beasley came to the Bar-B-Que to eat good food and enjoy good company.

Two-hundred and fifty teams are competing for the title of having the best  Bar-B-Que in town.

The chefs will start to prepare their meat for the actual competition Friday, but Thursday night's festivities are just for fun.

The actual judging of the Bar-B-Que doesn't take place until Saturday.
