Man accused of driving drunk, found asleep at drive-thru

Police said they woke him up


FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – A man is accused of driving drunk and falling asleep at the wheel in the drive-thru of a Friendswood Whataburger.

Jose Gilberto Rodriguez, 42, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

On Sunday, Friendswood police said a witness saw Rodriguez asleep outside the Whataburger on North Friendswood Drive near East Edgewood Drive.

An officer parked behind Rodriguez' vehicle and saw him asleep with his chin on his chest.

Police said a couple of officers woke Rodriguez up and smelled alcohol on his breath. He failed a field sobriety test and breath test and was arrested.

Rodriguez' bond was set at $1,500.
