Robber points gun at 2-year-old girl during carjacking

HOUSTON – Carlton LeBlanc and his 2-year-old daughter, Dorothy, were at a Highlands car wash Thursday night when they were carjacked.

They had only stopped for a few minutes, while LeBlanc was vacuuming up a spill, when the robber climbed in to their 2005 Dodge Dakota and pointed at a gun at them, LeBlanc said.

The robber demanded the keys and LeBlanc's wallet. He also threatened to kill them both if LeBlanc didn't comply.

"I saw my child sitting in that car seat, he pointed the gun at her. (I was) terrified. I was so worried about her and her safety, to get her out," LeBlanc said.

LeBlanc was able to get Dorothy out of her car seat before the man took off.

"I did not want her to get shot, when she was in my arms, I turned my back towards the gun," LeBlanc said.

Still visibly shaken by the thought of what could have happened, the father hopes the robber is caught soon.

He says he's too dangerous to be in the streets.

"No one should have to go through that kind of experience when you're doing nothing wrong," he said.
