Driver wanted in Mississippi arrested after chase in Fifth Ward

HOUSTON – A man was arrested and police found thousands of dollars in a car after a police chase ended in Houston's Lower Fifth Ward.

A Houston police spokesman said the chase began along Interstate 10 when patrol officers spotted a speeding car heading west.

The driver exited the interstate at Gregg Street and drove around the area for about seven minutes.

Police said he ran into a ditch and crashed the vehicle.

Officers said they found brass knuckles and several thousand dollars in the car.

They said the man also threw something out of the window during the chase, but officers were not able to find it.

The driver is in custody and has a felony warrant out of Mississippi for possession of marijuana.
