Man severely burns infant's face with hot bathwater, police say

Baby suffers first, third degree burns

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is searching for a man who investigators say burned a 3-month-old infant with steaming bathwater in Downtown.

Deondray "Todd" Williams, 34, was bathing an infant last Oct. 28 at a home in the 2000 block of Austin Street when he placed the child's head under the kitchen faucet, police said. Investigators said Williams placed the child's head under the water without checking the temperature.

The child suffered first- and third-degree burns to the face after being under the water for nearly a minute, police said.

Williams is being sought on a charge of reckless injury to a child. Police said he is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has tattoos on his back and arms, investigators said.

Anyone with information on Williams' whereabouts is asked to call Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at www.crime-stoppers.org. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
