HROU team successfully takes man into custody at northwest Harris County location

HOUSTON – The Houston High Risk Operations Unit team and the Hostage Negotiation Team was on the scene of a situation in northwest Harris County on Sunday.

A 44-year-old man barricaded himself inside his home. Police were called after the man pointed a gun at family members and himself.

According to police, the man fired at them when they arrived, then ran to his bedroom and locked the door.

Police said the man fired at them again before surrendering.

The scene was at 16200 Cairnway Dr., which is near Highway 6 and Clay Road.

The man was taken into custody after pepper spray was deployed inside the house.

The man's mother said he had been giving her the same problems for the past two days.

Deputies took him to the hospital for evaluation before taking him to the Harris County Jail.

There are no reported injuries from this incident.
