Investigators to begin digging for human remains at a new site

HOUSTON – Sources tell Channel 2 News another dig will begin in Brazoria County this week in connection with convicted kidnapper William Reece and the search for two missing young women.

Friday work crews discovered human skeletal remains at a site Reece led them to in late February.

The Harris County medical examiner's office is still working to identify the remains.

They could be that of 17-year-old Jessica Cain or 20-year-old Kelli Cox. Both disappeared in 1997.

Reece is a suspect in both cases.

Now, people with knowledge of the investigation and the Southeast Houston dig site say the search is headed to Brazoria County Wednesday or Thursday and is being led by the Texas Rangers.

So far the Texas Rangers have not returned our calls for a comment.
