Classes resume at school Adriana Coronado attended

HOUSTON – Monday was the first day back at Mayde Creek High School after the body of 14-year-old Adriana Coronado was positively identified.

Coronado died of multiple gunshot wounds and her body was found over the weekend.

Classmates said there was a moment of silence before school began and flags flew at half-staff in her memory.

"Depressing. Everyone was sad. Crying. The teachers who had her ... sad. Tough loss for her family," classmate Alex Loredo said.

Adriana disappeared over a week ago. The investigation into her death spanned 80 miles from Katy to Walker County. She was last seen with her father on March 12. His body was found in Walker County on March 13. An Amber Alert was immediately issued for Adriana.

"We had counselors in class asking everyone if they wanted to go to a separate room to talk about it to make them feel better. Pretty much everything was quiet," classmate Eduardo Tovar said.

Investigators said their work on the case is continuing.
