2 charged in fatal drive-by shooting at birthday party

HOUSTON – Two men have been charged in a drive-by shooting at a birthday party in which one person was killed and two others injured.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of Jan. 4 when police say Wayland Clark and two other males were attending a large birthday party in the 6200 block of Nyoka Street. According to police, unknown suspects were sitting in a parked vehicle in a parking lot of a business next to the residence when, at some point, shots were fired from the vehicle and struck Clark and the two other men.

Clark, 24, was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died. The two other male victims were transported to area hospitals where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Houston police say their investigation identified Arlin Walbert Barrientos and Randy Larios as suspects in the case.  Barrientos, 20, and Larios, 18, are charged with murder.

Both were arrested on Sunday, January 12, and police say the two admitted to their involvement in the shooting.
