2 emaciated horses seized by Houston SPCA in Conroe, officials say

CONROE, Texas – Deputies have seized two emaciated horses after noticing that their health was deteriorating over the last few months, authorities said.

The Montgomery County sheriff's livestock unit and the Houston SPCA seized two horses Wednesday on the 200 block of Eastwood Drive in Conroe after determining that the horses were in an emaciated state, deputies said.

Deputies were originally called to a location on Coaltown Road in November to check on the healthier of the two horses.

After the initial check on the two horses, deputies and the SPCA could not find the horses for two months, deputies said.

Months later,  they received a call that the horses were at the Eastwood Drive location and seemed to be in even worse condition than preciously.

The horses will stay in the custody of the Houston SPCA until final case disposition, and the investigation will continue.

Charges are expected to be filed against the owners.
