Veterans Day events in the Houston area

HOUSTON – The Houston area is filled with events to honor members of the military and military veterans for Veterans Day on Friday.

Houston's annual Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day celebration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday The event celebrates and honors men and women who served and fought for the country.

It starts at city hall with an AT&T veterans job and resource fair. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m., and the Parade of Heroes begins at 11:30 a.m. Sen. Ted Cruz will be in attendance to give remarks about Veterans Day and stay for the parade.

The Woodlands Township Veterans Day Tribute is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Town Green Park. Click here for more information.

The Veterans Day ceremony in League City is Friday at 10 a.m. at the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex. Click here for more information.

Pearland has a Veterans Day Walk and barbecue Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium. The cost is $15 for individual registration and $5 extra with the lunch. Click here for more information.

Students from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts choir will serenade 200 veterans at the Norris Conference Center Friday at 11:30 a.m. Rear Adm. Thomas E. Ishee, deputy commander of the Joint Functional Command for Global Strike, will attend.
